Rhodes University’s Chemistry Department is nurturing curiosity and widening access to STEM through long-standing outreach and initiatives like the Merck Curiosity Cube. By sparking joy in science and maths, they are opening doors and expanding possibilities for young learners.

ChemPharm has realised its bold vision to create one of South Africa’s most advanced science faculties. The newly renovated and integrated precinct positions Rhodes University at the forefront of interdisciplinary research, innovation, and teaching.

We are proud to honour members of our department who have dedicated many years of loyal service. Their commitment, expertise, and steady presence continue to strengthen our community.

We remember Rui Krause as a scientist, teacher, and friend whose kindness, humility, faith, and intellect shaped our department. His care for students, generosity of spirit, and warm humour touched many lives and will endure.
